Durgapuja- the favorite festival of Bengalis, the province of India to which I belong is about to begin in an hour or so.
Today is Mahashashthi or Durgashashthi, this day starts the five day long festival. Any minute now the priests will start Shashthikalpa in every altar where the Goddess is worshipped following the orthodox rules.
Shashthikalpa includes Pranpratishtha- that is, giving life, in case of Durgapuja it means inviting the celestial mother into the clay body. If you want to know more about orthodox ways of Durgapuja you can check out my blog window2mysoul.wordpress.com, you will get a detailed story there.
Shashthikalpa is most important for those who actually worship, not merely have fun during Durgapuja.
So, May the mother come down to every heart longing for her 🙂
Have a blessed Durgapuja.
May the Mother fill your world with blessings and happiness.
Love and hugs.
