Let me know that you want to read it/them i will send you invitation from there, in the email id you will supply with your comment.

If you want me to send the invitation in any other email id, let me know.

—————————————————————————————————————-
and in case you dont already know, i have joined facebook this february and my address there is facebook.com/sharmishtha.basu.50 – my doors are always open for friends. if you feel something is missing there, that is your invitation has been mishandled or something weirder do let me know!!!

A couple of days ago, a friend of mine almost gave me a heart attack when he told me that he was seeing my facebook account, and congratulated me on my kid… then he said that that account had the same address as mine only there was a slash in place of dot. So, please- my FB profile contains a very common photo of mine, a lot of you might have seen it with my blogs, in signatures.

To make things more clearer, I will use this single header for mydomainpvt for a while, this is the picture i have shared in FB too, I am not much familliar with FB lingo, not yet, so I used this picture there too, and it comes up with my profile picture, gravatar picture like headers of wordpress i guess.

Please do confirm with me if you have any confusion…

THOSE WHO HONOUR ME WITH AWARDS-

YOUR KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY WORKS AS AN INSPIRATION, A WIND BENEATH MY CREATIVE WINGS BUT I FEEL REALLY SHY TO SHOW OFF AWARDS IN MY BLOGS, I FEEL SELF CONSCIOUS AND VAIN. SO EVEN THOUGH EVERY ONE OF THEM MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A QUEEN PLEASE FORGIVE MY INCAPABILITY TO SHOW THEM OFF!

GOD BLESS YOUR NOBLE, SWEET SOUL THAT LOVES THIS HUMBLE BLOG AND ITS CONTENTS. YOUR COMMENTS ARE MY GREATEST REWARDS AND YOUR FRIENDSHIP TRUE TREASURE.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH MY SWEET FRIENDS FOR HONOURING.

THERE IS ANOTHER THING TOO- A LOT OF MY FRIENDS REBLOG MY WORKS, THAT REALLY HONOURS THOSE SILLY WORKS GREATLY, BUT, FOR SOME MYSTERIOUS REASON (OR MY LIMITED CAPACITY INTERNET CONNECTION), IN PAST WHEN I TRIED TO REBLOG THE WORKS OF MY FRIENDS MY INTERNET CONNECTION BECAME REALLY, MISERABLY SLOW. SO, I KNOW YOU DONT DO IT FOR PUBLICITY, HOPING FOR RETURN OF THE KINDNESS BUT IT MAKES ME FEEL A LITTLE SAD, GUILTY THAT I CANT RETURN YOUR PRICELESS FAVOR.

HOPE YOU CAN FORGIVE IT!

  1. I am often reminded that in the
writing buisiness – a real agent
or publisher will never ask for
money – if they like your work,
they will pay you – if not they
will send a rejection if they can,
or you simply won’t hear back.

The job of an agent is to promote
your work for a share of the earned
money,Be ware of anyone asking for
money before money has been made.
These are the worst kind of people.
Seeing as writers never make much
    money even when successful.

Note – some authors pay to have
books made and sell them on their
own – this is called self-publishing.
Many of these businesses are also
scams. You will have be very
    careful when going this route.

I’ve heard many have had success
    doing commissioned work – meaning
that someone has an idea for a book,
but wants you to write it down for them.
These people should never ask you
    for money either.

Please note, that I live in the United
States. Things may be different here.
I was pursueing an illistration job – (a
guy requested a picture.) and nothing
really came of it – he never asked for
money though and all I wasted was my
time – but I wanted experience – people
like it when you’ve worked for others
before, but the problem is getting that
    first job.

I really hope you can turn your talents
into some extra income, there would be
nothing better then to do something you
love and have at least some independence.

I too am dependent on others financially
and would like to make it on my own, or
at least contribute in some way in paying
the expences. I wish you the best in
    finding a use for your skills. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  2. I’m sure something will come your way, my friend, as you have such wisdom in your words and I believe that whatever it is you want in life it is attainable. Just believe and be determined and your spirit will lead you.

  3. Sharmishtha,

Reading this, I feel for you. I am no agent, only another blog writer. But if you feel upto it, I could possibly coach and mentor you on the way forward. No costs, only a positive intention. Would you like to try that out? Let me know.

    Do not lose heart!

    Shakti
    ( shakti.ghosal@gmail.com)

    • thank you so very much for your kindness shakti, i have left you a message in your blog too. hotmail is almost dead here today, i will try to mail you tomorrow.

thanks again for your warm kindness.

      • dear shakti,

i tried to send you an email from my gmail account (mydomainpvt@gmail.com) because my hotmail accounts are not opening.

that mail was bounced back to me.

        dont know why!

        with warmest wishes,
        sharmishtha

  4. I know that there are online writing jobs you can do. One is called Textbroker They are based in the USA but recently added a whole lost of other countries to their list of places to employ writers who write for others and get paid to do it. Look online for these type of genuine sites that pay you, most pay by the word. And judge you on your writing skill level as to what content they think you are able to wrote for. For example medical/science/history that type of thing.
Keep looking, there are online writing jobs out there and no, you never pay a fee.
The problems with your mail maybe with hotmail themselves. Try clearing out your temp internet files/cookies and such, it might help.

    • thanks a lot for the priceless suggestions. i clear up my temp internet files/cookies everytime i quit internet explorer- i have applied the settings in that manner. 😦

may be my service provider is disturbing the normal flow.

  5. Hi, Sharmishtha…I have been following your beautiful blog, since I first came to WP..and I’m honored that such a gifted writer, such as yourself, is following me. I have a few other blogs I am working on, as well. I’ll leave the URL’s – feel free to make yourself at home.
    You are a true inspiration…

*feel free, also, to give me any comments/advice/suggestions – my contact info is located on my gravatar, or contact through the blogs πŸ™‚

    • thanks megan. i have tried some sites but they were not very cooperative before becoming member by paying a whopping amount of money but i will try out this one too. thanks.

  6. I’m thinking of doing a similar thing. Maybe we can promote each other! Anyway, hope your fishing hooks some fish! It’s a hard life trying to get money for writing so I guess it’s just as well we love it anyway.

    • i have realized that too. i loved it first and then started to think about trying it as a profession or side income atleast. i will always love it profession or not. wish the same joy to you too. πŸ™‚

I will love to help you in promoting but dont know how!! tell me πŸ™‚

  7. Beyond Suffering
The seconds feel like years, since you’ve been gone, but I only have myself to blame. Β

Anger is something that I cannot be, for I understand you so well.

    Never did I imagine or dream that a love so sweet and deep would ever come to me;

but YOU DID, sent from Heaven and now you’re gone, taking my heart with you – keep it, I don’t want it back.

A love like ours comes only once in a lifetime and my heart is not for everyone…it was made for you.

With heart, mind and soul I love you, but distance kept my physical presence away.

On the outside, it seemed that steps were not taken, but in actuality, my steps kept getting hindered by things that were out of my control.

As Wilhelm, I, too, kept reaching for you in the night only to find myself alone.

Weeping from deep within, past my heart to my soul, a place I never allowed anyone to touch except you.

Is there a word beyond missing?

    Is there something beyondΒ despair?

    Yes, because I am there;

    left with only memories and the sound of your voice haunting me, I will have to ask God to help me live the rest of this life without you;

although always believing that we are meant to be together as one…ANA AHIMU FIKA.

O! How well I understand him, this Wilhelm, who when after reaching out for his love, saw his love vanish – so, I am left; seeing my LOVE, my LIFE vanish before my eyes.

    ~Windmill Thoughts

    deep deep feelings~love~

  8. I just wanted to second what another person posted above. All reputable agents in the US, Canada and most of Europe do not charge you money up front. They represent you, and attempt to get your work published. If they are successful, the going rate is 15%. You also do not give the agent the rights to your work. You give a publisher the rights in exchange for publication and hopefully, money.

I wish you luck. I’d love to learn more about the publishing/writing business in other places. We should all help each other, and stick together!

  9. I know you’ve got lot of advice & kind words on this post & if I may add my two cents to it … you write so artistically, and sure that’s your hobby too. I’d suggest keep you hobby independent from any monitory motivations and let your creativity fly freely. There are ample opportunities to work from home, part time assignments that can earn enough money to meet your needs. You might want to explore them first.

    • well yatin, in my part of the nation, riddled by extreme unemployment and very high skill rate these “home based jobs” are mostly fraudulent. Have tried almost half a dozen different types. Gave up after a filthy, fraudulent Medical Transcription Institute robbed me off 30000 rupee, commuting expenses and six months of really hard work.

  10. Have you considered writing for national/international magazines/newspapers? I have thought about free-lancing too, but I don’t suppose I would seriously consider it until I have my name in more spaces…

  11. Sharmistha here are my 2 cents worth.
You want to make money writing, so instead of writing just whatever comes to mind or takes your fancy why not find out what people are reading and produce something like it and then try to flog it.
So if you think you can do romance novellas why not study current successes and write something like it?Why not try self-publishing on the net?You won’t make much overnight but it will give you a start and you can fine tune from there.
Just as you have followers of your blogs you are bound to have some repeat purchasers of your work. You could even announce your book releases on your blogs.
Try to focus more on best selling rather than best writing.
And if you are serious about earning from your writing why not not
go for ads on your blog?

  12. Hang in there. I feel what you are going through. I’m looking for an agent right now as I type this. Tough market.

I’ve set up something similar to yours at my other site.

    http://longjourneysandshortroads.com/

I’m hoping to use that site to show off my talents to future agents.

I guess as long as we are out there on the web everything will help.

Nice blog. Keep up the good work and advice.

  13. Just thought I’d let you know that I get a lot of jobs through Guru and Constant Content. Sometimes, I will take low paying jobs on a lot of the writing forums and take simple projects, because these end up leading to higher paying jobs and steady work.

    Best of luck to you!
    Stacy from artecalifornia.com

  14. Whenever I get time I use to have a look about your past writings and inspiring skills. They are all treasure troves. As an elder to you as I might suggest to my daughter kindly if possible keep apart from finances. Yr words are priceless. Normally great works are not recognised in the author’s own life time, nor do they fetch monetarily. I too live with very meagre resources, thanks to my kind wife. I never wanted to sell my writings. Again it all depends. Each one’s destiny differs. Yr noble thoughts and concern for humanity, may the Almighty bless you to make all your aspirations come true!

  15. Just remember that your blog is a representation of your work. It is vital that you put the best foot forward with not only interesting observations, but with impeccable spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Your comments to others as well, should demonstrate linguistic proficiency, and a professional demeanour. All the best! (www.shawnbird.com)

  16. My blog has picked up a tail from teh international english broadcaster of Iran …. no book deal has been offered though *sigh* amazon it is I guess (or something)

  17. Wow! So many blogs, how do you even manage it? Hats off, Sharmistha.
For freelancing, it would be great if you join skillpages.com, there are lots of job for content writers, bloggers etc. There is a new post almost everyday.
All the best for you future endeavours Sharmistha!

    Regards,
    Payal.

  18. Have you tried some of the no fee contests. The prizes are small, but they can make you more impressive to clients.

I work as a freelance journalist, and I’ve found its mostly a matter of being persistent, consistent and available. Don’t know if more creative writing is the same way.

  19. You can submit to many different magazines that take short stories. Look for the genre you particularly like to write in and see what magazines there are. Look up their submission terms and stick to them WITHOUT deviating one tiny bit from what the publisher as stipulated. You can also publish chapter by chapter novels on jukepopserials.com. It takes a few months before their editor gets round to approving new stuff, but you get paid for the first 3,500 words and after 6 months you can publish your novel wherever you like. It allows you to delelop a readership and get valuable feedback from other writers.

If you want ghostwriting or short story assignments under your own name, try elance.com and guru.com. You can also self-publish at scribd.com, the world’s largest online subscription library. It doesn’t cost anything to sign up to any of these and you can sell books and stories via scribd.com. You do need a PayPal account for all of these to receive your royalties/fee.

    • i am not interested in ghostwriting, i will try short story assignments under my own name. Thanks a lot for the helps Maria. They mean a lot to me. A million thanks. I hope by the end of this year I will be able to share my small/big succeses with you πŸ™‚

  20. Your time is coming my friend! Your wonderful work will be in books for all to read of that I am certain! Praying for Gods provision/intervention to make this happen. Until then keep up the great work and God bless you lots πŸ™‚

  21. If you have some cash you might try the association of writers they usually have good tips about what’s up. Im sure you’ll make it, as an illustrator we need more authors out there. πŸ™‚

I LOVE TO READ AND RETURN COMMENTS. SOME OF MY READERS DONT LEAVE URL, IF THEY START LEAVING URL I WILL JUST LOVE TO READ THEIR WORKS TOO.
